Sylvia Stevens
Master of Arts (MA), Certified Massage Therapist (CMT)

Sylvia graduated from the Baltimore School of Massage in April of 2000 and joined New Moon Bodywork and Botanicals in June of 2002. She strongly believes that each body knows best how to heal itself; therefore, her practice incorporates hands-on treatment with active communication, intuition and client education. She relies on a variety of modalities to make her treatments unique and tailored to her clients' needs. In addition to the standard massage techniques of Swedish, deep tissue and myofascial release, Sylvia studied Reiki with Pat McKinney at the Synthesis Center in St. Mary's City, reaching level II in 1998, level I Cranio-sacral therapy through the prestigious Upledger Institute in 2003, and within the past few months has added spa stone massage to her repertoire.

When she isn't working with clients at New Moon or at home with her husband and two cats, Sylvia teaches as an adjunct professor to massage therapy program at the College of Southern Maryland. She appreciates the opportunity to incorporate the skills learned in her former incarnation as a high school English teacher with her current dedication to bodywork, wellness and healing and honors the responsibility of preparing the next generation for service to the community through the healing arts.
